The J. Duke Albanese Performing Arts Center, constructed in 1992 as part of the state’s mandated fine arts program, provides the community the opportunity to explore and enjoy the performing arts in a professional theater setting.
The 826 seat facility was designed with a quality sound system and refined acoustics as well as an elaborate lighting system. The Center offers many in-school assembly programs for grades K-12 including speakers and visiting performing arts groups. It also serves as a learning laboratory and performance site for the district’s ambitious music and theater programs.
While its principal purpose is a teaching and learning center for the Messalonskee School District, it is also intended to serve the greater community as a cultural center. This facility is made available to organizations, agencies, and individuals for civic, cultural, educational, recreational or political activities.
Special Features:
- Fully accessible to the handicapped
- Quality sound system and refined acoustics
- Stage and house lighting with central controls
- Air-conditioned
