RSU 18 Lifestyles Community Event
The RSU 18 Lifestyles Wellness Team is taking its inspirational mojo to the community.
For the last 4 years, the RSU 18 Lifestyles Wellness team has been going strong motivating district staff to make positive life changes. Thanks to this group, district employees can participate in free yoga and Zumba classes, health incentives, and fun health challenges throughout the year. The group has also been in charge of the beginning and end of year staff events and has incorporated wellness components into most professional development days. Thanks to their impact, the district has seen a rise in morale and a decrease in health insurance premiums. Now the group is moving on to include the community in their work.
Earlier this month the Lifestyles Team launched a new page on the RSU 18 website. The page features wellness opportunities for both the staff and community members ranging from healthy eating tips to area events like health fairs and road races. The intent of the site is to share the group’s goal of “Living better in 18.”
The Lifestyles Wellness Team has also been working to put together its first community event. They will be hosting a free showing of The Polar Express, Friday, December 7th at 6:00 pm in the Messalonskee Performing Arts Center. This event aims to bring the community together and provide a fun evening for local families. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served in the cafeteria and audience members will get a visit from some special holiday guests. The group will also be accepting donations of funds to help local families in need during this holiday season.
Please come out and join us on December 7th and keep an eye on the RSU 18 Lifestyles page for more community opportunities and events in the new year.
